Every Punjab license payment has up to three parts. First comes a one-time test fee. Next is the yearly license fee, multiplied by the years of validity you pick. Finally, a Rs480 charge covers the printed card and its courier delivery to your address.
DLIMS 2.0, built with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), calculates these charges. New to the system? Our explainer on what DLIMS is covers the basics.
New driving license fee in Punjab for every category
The table shows what you actually pay for a fresh one-year license. We added the test fee into the total, because you pay it too.
| Category | Test fee | Yearly fee | Card + courier | 1-year total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs50 | Rs450 | Rs480 | Rs980 |
| Rickshaw | Rs100 | Rs400 | Rs480 | Rs980 |
| Car/Jeep | Rs150 | Rs1,350 | Rs480 | Rs1,980 |
| Motorcycle + Car | Rs200 | Rs1,350 | Rs480 | Rs2,030 |
| LTV | Rs150 | Rs1,850 | Rs480 | Rs2,480 |
| Motorcycle + LTV | Rs200 | Rs1,850 | Rs480 | Rs2,530 |
| Tractor (agricultural) | Rs50 | Rs950 | Rs480 | Rs1,480 |
| Tractor (commercial) | Rs100 | Rs1,400 | Rs480 | Rs1,980 |
| Invalid carriage | Rs0 | Rs0 | Rs480 | Rs480 |
For combined categories, the official schedule lists the yearly fee of the higher category. So a motorcycle + car license carries the car's Rs1,350 yearly fee, not both fees added together.
HTV and PSV categories appear in the renewal, duplicate and international tables at Rs1,850 per year. However, the new-license table does not list a fresh HTV or PSV row, so confirm that charge on your PSID. Age rules also matter here: you need to be 18 for a motorcycle or car, 21 for an LTV, and 22 for an HTV (or hold a car/LTV license for three years first).
Driving license fee in Punjab for 1 to 5 years
Punjab lets you choose a license valid for one, two, three, four or five years. The yearly fee simply multiplies by the number of years. In contrast, the test fee is paid once, because you only sit the test once.
Whether the Rs480 card and courier charge repeats on a multi-year license is not stated on the official page. For that reason, the tables below keep it in its own column. Always confirm the final total on your PSID before you pay.

| 2 years | Rs2,700 | Rs150 | Rs480 |
| 3 years | Rs4,050 | Rs150 | Rs480 |

| 2 years | Rs3,700 | Rs150 | Rs480 |
| 3 years | Rs5,550 | Rs150 | Rs480 |
| 4 years | Rs7,400 | Rs150 | Rs480 |
| 5 years | Rs9,250 | Rs150 | Rs480 |
Many people search for the driving license fee for 5 years in Pakistan. In Punjab, a new five-year car license costs at least Rs7,380 (Rs6,750 + Rs150 + Rs480). Similarly, a five-year motorcycle license starts at Rs2,780, and a five-year LTV license at Rs9,880.
Licence renewal fees in Punjab
Renewal uses the same yearly fee as a new license, plus the Rs480 card and courier charge. There is no test fee, so the total drops a little. For documents and steps, see our Punjab driving license renewal guide.
| Category | Yearly renewal fee | Card + courier | 1-year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs450 | Rs480 | Rs930 |
| Rickshaw | Rs400 | Rs480 | Rs880 |
| Car/Jeep (and Motorcycle + Car) | Rs1,350 | Rs480 | Rs1,830 |
| Tractor (commercial) | Rs1,400 | Rs480 | Rs1,880 |
| LTV, HTV, PSV and combinations | Rs1,850 | Rs480 | Rs2,330 |
Longer renewals work the same way. For instance, a five-year car renewal carries Rs6,750 in license fee before the card and courier charge.
Late renewal penalty in Punjab
If your license expires before you renew, DLIMS adds a fine on top of the renewal fee. The fine is a share of the yearly fee:
- 1 to 3 months late: 50% of the yearly fee
- 3 to 12 months late: 100% of the yearly fee
- More than 1 year late: 250% of the yearly fee
| Category | 1–3 months late | 3–12 months late | Over 1 year late |
|---|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs225 | Rs450 | Rs1,125 |
| Rickshaw | Rs200 | Rs400 | Rs1,000 |
| Car/Jeep | Rs675 | Rs1,350 | Rs3,375 |
| Tractor (commercial) | Rs700 | Rs1,400 | Rs3,500 |
| LTV, HTV, PSV | Rs925 | Rs1,850 | Rs4,625 |
Worked examples for a one-year renewal
- Car license, two months late: Rs1,350 + Rs675 fine + Rs480 = Rs2,505.
- Motorcycle license, six months late: Rs450 + Rs450 fine + Rs480 = Rs1,380.
- LTV license, fourteen months late: Rs1,850 + Rs4,625 fine + Rs480 = Rs6,955.
In short, a car owner who waits more than a year pays Rs5,205 instead of Rs1,830.
Duplicate driving license fee in Punjab
You need a duplicate when your card is lost, stolen or damaged. The fee depends on the category, and the Rs480 card and courier charge applies again.
| Category | Duplicate fee | Card + courier | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle, rickshaw, commercial tractor | Rs100 | Rs480 | Rs580 |
| Car/Jeep, LTV | Rs150 | Rs480 | Rs630 |
| Combined categories, HTV, PSV, agricultural tractor | Rs200 | Rs480 | Rs680 |
After you pay, the new card goes through printing and dispatch. You can follow it with our DLIMS tracking guide. Meanwhile, the DLIMS e-license gives you a digital copy to keep on your phone.
International driving license fee in Punjab
Punjab issues the International Driving Permit (IDP) for one or three years. The totals below already include the Rs480 courier charge.
| Category | 1 year | 3 years |
|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs930 | Rs1,830 |
| Car/Jeep | Rs1,830 | Rs4,530 |
| LTV, HTV, PSV | Rs2,330 | Rs6,030 |
The three-year option is better value if you travel often. For example, three separate one-year car permits would cost Rs5,490, while one three-year permit costs Rs4,530.
Bring your CNIC, a valid Pakistani driving license, a passport with at least six months of validity and a visa, and photographs.
Learner license fee in Punjab
The learner permit costs Rs500 for each category you apply for. You apply online through DLIMS or the Dastak portal, and a digital copy appears in your account. The permit is valid for six months. After that, you must hold it for at least 42 days before you can sit the driving test.
Our DLIMS learner guide walks through the application step by step. A separate Juvenile Driving Permit exists for 16- to 18-year-olds on motorcycles up to 125cc. Reports on its fee conflict, so check the current amount on Dastak or DLIMS before you apply.
How to pay the DLIMS fee with a PSID
Punjab collects license fees through e-Pay Punjab. When your application or renewal is entered, the system generates a PSID (Payment Slip ID) for that exact service. You then pay that amount, and the payment links back to your file.
Plenty of people ask about dlims fee pay easypaisa. If you use a wallet such as Easypaisa or JazzCash, look for e-Pay Punjab or PSID payment in its bill or government section. Otherwise, a bank app or ATM does the same job.
What changed: from flat 5-year fees to yearly fees
Punjab once quoted flat amounts for a multi-year license. Many websites still show those older flat rates for five years. Those numbers no longer match the official schedule. According to a Daily Pakistan report, a revised, much higher fee structure took effect on 15 January 2024.
So why do the figures online differ so much? There are four common reasons:
- Old flat rates copied forward. Pages written before the change still list five-year prices that no longer apply.
- The test fee left out. The official table's "Total" column adds only the license fee and courier. As a result, some sites show Rs1,830 for a car, while applicants actually pay Rs1,980.
- One year shown as five. A one-year total is sometimes labelled as a five-year fee.
- Renewal and new fees mixed. Renewal has no test fee, so its totals are lower than a new license.
For any doubt, the official DLIMS fee structure and your PSID are the only numbers that count.
Driving license fee in Punjab vs Sindh and Islamabad
Each province sets its own fees and validity rules, so compare with care. Sindh sells three- and five-year licenses, while Punjab charges per year.
| Item | Punjab | Sindh | Islamabad (ICT) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Learner permit | Rs500 per category | Rs50 bike, Rs100 car/LTV | Rs1,000 |
| Motorcycle | Rs980 (1 year) | Rs510 (3 yr), Rs660 (5 yr) | Rs3,000 |
| Car | Rs1,980 (1 year) | Rs960 (3 yr), Rs1,260 (5 yr) | Rs3,000 |
| LTV | Rs2,480 (1 year) | Rs960 (3 yr), Rs1,260 (5 yr) | Rs10,000 |
| Duplicate | Rs580–Rs680 | Rs360 | Rs3,000 |
Sindh adds other charges, including lamination Rs250, NADRA Rs65 and medical Rs100, listed on the DLS Sindh fee structure. In Islamabad, a digital card costs a further Rs2,000 under the fees notified in May 2024. Our guides to DLS Sindh and DLIMS Islamabad cover those systems, and the Islamabad DLIMS portal handles learner permits there.

- Keep your card safe: a duplicate costs Rs580 to Rs680
- Choose the three-year IDP if you travel often
- Pay only the PSID amount and skip agents who add their own charges
Common fee problems and fixes
The PSID shows a different amount. First, check whether you selected extra years or a combined category. If it still looks wrong, ask the staff at your nearest license centre before paying.
You paid, but the status has not changed. Payment updates can take some time. Keep your receipt, then contact DLIMS Punjab on 042-99202892 or Dastak support on 1202 if the delay continues.
