What is DLS Sindh?
DLS stands for Driving License System. It is run by Sindh Police, and its public website, Driving License Sindh, handles licence verification, the fee schedule, branch details and road-safety material. The head office sits in Clifton, Karachi, and the listed phone number is 021-99250526.
Many people search for DLIMS Sindh or DLIMS Karachi. However, DLIMS is the name of Punjab's system, which you can read about on our DLIMS Punjab page. In Sindh, the correct names are DLS and, for online applications, DLS Online. Our explainer on what DLIMS means covers the naming mix-up in more detail.
DLS Sindh works through two official websites:
- dls.gos.pk for licence verification, fees, branches and "how to obtain" guidance.
- dlsonline.sindhpolice.gov.pk for online learner permits, renewals, International Driving Permits and the fee calculator.
How to verify a licence on DLS Sindh
Sindh driving license verification is free and open to anyone. It is useful for employers, rental firms and licence holders who want to confirm their own record. The form sits on the DLS Sindh online verification page.
In practice, the licence number and CNIC are the most useful fields. Type the CNIC exactly as printed on the licence. If nothing appears, press Back to Search and try again with fewer fields filled. After that, compare the result with the physical card: the categories and expiry date should match.
A licence issued in Punjab, Islamabad or KP will not show on the Sindh portal. For those, use the right provincial checker, listed on our online driving licence check guide, including KPK licence verification and ITP Islamabad.
Learner to permanent: the Sindh driving license process
The official how to obtain a driving licence page sets out the path. First you get a learner licence, then you practise, and finally you pass two tests for the permanent card.
Age limits
- Non-commercial licence (motorcycle, car): 18 years and above.
- Commercial licence: 21 years and above.
- HTV endorsement: 22 years and above, with at least three years of licence experience.
Step 1: Learner licence on DLS Online
Since October 2024, you can apply for a learner permit online instead of standing in a branch queue. The DLS Online portal follows five steps.
You can still apply at a branch if you prefer. In that case, carry your original CNIC and expect a medical fitness check on site. A learner licence stays valid for one year.
Step 2: Wait, then take the tests
Next comes the waiting period. Non-commercial applicants must wait 42 days after the learner licence. Commercial applicants wait 90 days. Use that time to practise with a licensed driver beside you.
After that, you visit a branch for two tests:
- Theory test: 25 questions on signs and rules. You need 18 correct answers, which equals 72 marks out of 100.
- Road test: a practical drive judged by a testing officer under the Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1965.
Medical rules also apply. For example, epilepsy, colour blindness, night blindness or weak distance vision can disqualify a candidate.
Step 3: Permanent licence
Once you pass both tests, you pay for a three-year or five-year permanent licence. The official how-to page names eight branches for permanent licences: Clifton, Nazimabad and Korangi in Karachi, plus Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur and Larkana. Newer branches may also issue them, so confirm by phone before you travel.
DLS Sindh fee structure 2026
The figures below come from the official DLS Sindh fee structure page, checked on 30 September 2026. They match the schedule reported in January 2025. Sindh charges one fee per term, not per year as Punjab does.
| Category | New learner | Learner renewal |
|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs50 | Rs100 |
| Car or LTV | Rs100 | Rs100 |
| Car + motorcycle | Rs150 | Rs100 |
| Category | 3 years | 5 years |
|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs510 | Rs660 |
| Car, motor cab rickshaw or LTV | Rs960 | Rs1,260 |
| Car + motorcycle | Rs1,410 | Rs1,860 |
| LTV + motorcycle | Rs1,410 | Rs1,860 |
| Category | 3 yr, within 30 days | 5 yr, within 30 days | 3 yr, after 30 days | 5 yr, after 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs310 | Rs460 | Rs435 | Rs660 |
| Car, rickshaw or LTV | Rs560 | Rs860 | Rs810 | Rs1,260 |
| Car or LTV + motorcycle | Rs810 | Rs1,260 | Rs1,185 | Rs1,860 |
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Lamination | Rs250 |
| NADRA | Rs65 |
| Medical | Rs100 |
| Correction | Rs310 |
| Duplicate licence | Rs360 |
| PSV endorsement | Rs500 |
| Courier, Karachi | Rs38 |
| Courier, outside Karachi | Rs55 |
So a first motorcycle learner permit costs about Rs215 in total: Rs50 fee, Rs100 medical and Rs65 NADRA. The official services page gives the same Rs215 figure and Rs315 for car plus motorcycle. HTV and HTV plus motorcycle have their own rows on the fee page, so check them there. Finally, the fee calculator on DLS Online shows your exact total before you pay.
Documents for a driving license in Karachi and Sindh
Official pages keep the list short. Still, bring everything below so one missing paper does not cost you a second trip.
- Original CNIC, plus scans of the front and back for DLS Online
- A clear face photo on a plain background for online forms
- Learner licence printout when you come for the tests
- Medical certificate from a registered practitioner for online renewals
- Previous licence for renewal, correction or duplicate requests
- Valid passport and a Sindh permanent licence for an IDP
- Paid bill or fee receipt
DLS Sindh online appointment and token
Many people search for a Sindh driving license online token. The official services page says the DLS Online management system lets you reserve a time slot before visiting a branch. That feature dates from the COVID-19 period, however. The current DLS Online home page highlights learner permits, renewal, IDP and the fee calculator, not booking.
So log in and check your dashboard for a slot option. If none shows, plan a walk-in visit early in the day.

Renewal, duplicate and IDP with DLS Sindh
Renew online or at a branch
DLS Online has a Renew Your License option. You upload a face photo, CNIC scans, your previous licence and a medical certificate. Then you pay the bill and the renewed licence reaches you by courier.
When the service launched in October 2024, the provincial government described online renewal as meant for non-commercial licences. Commercial licence holders should therefore confirm at a branch.
Renew within 30 days of expiry to pay the lower rate shown in the renewal table. Also remember that driving on an expired licence can lead to a fine.
Duplicate and correction
For a lost or damaged card, visit a branch with your CNIC. The duplicate fee is Rs360 and a correction costs Rs310. It also helps to carry a photocopy of the old licence if you have one.
International Driving Permit
DLS Online also takes IDP applications. You need a valid passport and a valid permanent licence issued by DLS Sindh. The permit arrives by courier.
Is there a DLS Sindh e-licence?
Sindh does not offer a downloadable e-licence like Punjab's DLIMS e-licence on any official page we checked. The printable document on DLS Online is the learner licence. With a permanent licence, carry the physical card. For Punjab card tracking instead, see our DLIMS tracking guide.
E-challan Karachi: TRACS fines and fake SMS
Karachi's faceless e-challan system, known as TRACS, went live on 27–28 October 2025. Cameras record violations, and Dawn reported that notices go by Pakistan Post to the address linked to the number plate. Launch reports put many fines at Rs5,000, with a 50% discount if you pay within 14 days. Unpaid fines can also block the transfer of your vehicle.
To check your record, use the Sindh Police TRACS 4 Citizens app, which asks for your CNIC, mobile number and email, then shows challans against your vehicles. Dawn also reported complaint desks at eleven Karachi police stations for contesting a challan.
Do not click such links or share card, OTP or bank details.
Check your record only through official Sindh Police channels, or call the 1915 helpline to confirm before paying.

Common DLS Sindh problems and fixes
No record found. First, clear the extra fields and search again with the licence number and CNIC only. If a new licence still does not show, allow a few working days, then call 021-99250526.
Wrong spelling or date on the licence. A correction costs Rs310. Visit a branch with your CNIC and the licence, because online forms cannot fix printed errors.
Email code not arriving on DLS Online. Check your spam folder and confirm you typed the email correctly. After that, request a fresh code.
Payment made but status unchanged. Keep the bank receipt and bill ID. Bank payments can take some time to post, so wait before paying again.
Licence from Sindh used in Punjab. A valid Sindh licence is a Pakistani licence. Anyone, including an officer or employer in another province, can check it on dls.gos.pk, so keep it valid and carry the card.
