DLIMS e-License: Download Your Punjab e Driving License by CNIC
The DLIMS e-License is a digital copy of your Punjab driving license that you generate on the official DLIMS portal. You only need your CNIC or passport number and your date of birth, and it takes about a minute.
What is the DLIMS e-License?
The DLIMS e-License is a digital copy of a Punjab driving license issued through DLIMS. To get it, open dlims.punjab.gov.pk/elicense and pick Regular License, International License or Juvenile Permit. Next, enter your CNIC or passport number and date of birth. Then solve the small sum, press Generate e-License and save the result as a PDF on your phone.

- Final word on the DLIMS e-License
Punjab runs its licensing on DLIMS 2.0, which the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) built as part of the Dastak one-window system. The same system handles your application, payment, verification and card tracking. As a result, it can also show your license record as an e-license on demand.
Think of the e-license as a mirror of your record. It shows what DLIMS holds about you, so it is only as current as that record. If you want the background on the system itself, our explainer on what DLIMS is covers it in plain terms.
What the e-license is not
Many people confuse the e-license with other services. So here is what it does not do:
- It is not a new license, and it cannot issue, renew or extend anything.
- It is not an application form. You still apply through Dastak or a license centre.
- It does not exist for people who have never held a DLIMS-issued license.
- It is not a guaranteed legal replacement for your plastic card in Punjab (more on this below).
Who can get a DLIMS e-License?
You can generate an e-license if your license is on the Punjab DLIMS record. That covers people who got a regular license, an International Driving Permit or a Juvenile Permit through the Punjab system. The portal has a separate tab for each of these three types.
However, learner permits work differently. Punjab issues the learner permit online through DLIMS and Dastak, and the digital copy sits in your applicant account. For that route, see our DLIMS learner permit guide instead.
In addition, a very old license may not appear if it never reached the computerised record. The fix is then a visit to your license centre.
| You hold | Tab to select | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Punjab regular license | Regular License | CNIC/passport, date of birth |
| International Driving Permit | International License | CNIC/passport, passport number, date of birth |
| Juvenile Permit (16–18) | Juvenile Permit | The details the form asks for |
| Learner permit | Not this page | Use your Dastak/DLIMS account |
How to download your e license Punjab PDF by CNIC
The form is short and runs in any browser. First, keep your CNIC and date of birth ready. Then follow these steps.
Many people search for license kaise download kare; the answer is these six steps.
Saving and printing your DLIMS e-License on a phone
Once your e-license opens, save it straight away. That way, you do not need signal or the portal every time you want it.
On an Android phone
First, look for a download or print option on the page itself. If there is none, open the Chrome menu, tap Share, then Print, and pick Save as PDF. Finally, move the file into a folder you can find offline, such as Documents or Google Files.
On an iPhone
Tap the Share icon in Safari, then choose Print or Save to Files. On the print preview, you can also pinch outwards to turn the page into a PDF. After that, keep it in the Files app so it opens without the internet.
On a computer
Press Ctrl + P (or Cmd + P on a Mac) and set the printer to Save as PDF. A screenshot also works, but a PDF stays sharper when someone zooms in.
DLIMS e-License validity: can you show it instead of your card?
This is the question most people ask, so here is a careful answer. The Punjab DLIMS portal offers the e-license as a digital copy of your record, and Punjab Police has said its QR code lets traffic police verify it. However, we have not found a Punjab notification that makes a phone copy a full legal substitute for the plastic card.
So our practical advice is simple. Carry your card when you drive, and keep the e-license as a backup on your phone. If you have lost your card, apply for a duplicate rather than relying on the e-license alone.
Also remember that the e-license does not extend your license. The validity dates on it are the same dates DLIMS holds for your license. Once those dates pass, you need a driving license renewal in Punjab, and the e-license will simply show the expired record.
DLIMS e-License vs plastic card: how they compare
Both show the same record, yet they serve different purposes.
| Point | e-License | Plastic card |
|---|---|---|
| How you get it | Generate it yourself online | Printed and sent by courier |
| Cost | No fee shown on the portal | Rs480 card and courier charge |
| Speed | Within about a minute | Depends on printing and delivery |
| Works offline | Only if you saved a PDF | Always |
| Replaces a lost card | No, apply for a duplicate | Not applicable |
| Legal status in Punjab | Treat as a backup copy | Your primary document |
| Updates | Reflects the current DLIMS record | Fixed at the time of printing |
For the full cost picture, including renewal and duplicate charges, see our breakdown of the driving license fee in Punjab.
e license check: verify what the e-license shows
Generating an e-license and verifying a license are two different tools. The e-license gives you a copy to keep. Verification, on the other hand, confirms a license's status for an employer or anyone else.
For the verification route, use the official DLIMS verify page. Enter the CNIC and the license details the form asks for. The result shows the license status, categories and validity. Our guide to online driving license check by CNIC walks through it for every province and covers the e license punjab online verification by cnic search.
e license Punjab tracking: when your card is still on the way
The e-license page does not track your card. Instead, card tracking lives on a separate official page at dlims.punjab.gov.pk/track. There, you enter your CNIC or passport and see the printing or dispatch stage.
Our DLIMS tracking guide explains each stage and what to do when a card is delayed.
When the DLIMS e-License won't download or shows wrong details
Most problems have a simple cause, so work through these checks first.
"No record found" or a blank result
First, confirm you picked the right tab. A Juvenile Permit will not appear under Regular License. Next, re-type your CNIC without dashes and check your date of birth against the CNIC itself. If your application is still in process, the record may not be ready yet, so try again after a few days.
The captcha keeps failing
The sum refreshes when the page reloads. So answer the sum currently on screen, not one from a previous attempt. Also, turn off any data-saver or ad-blocking mode that strips page scripts.
The page loads but nothing saves
Try another browser, such as Chrome instead of an in-app browser. Alternatively, switch to Wi-Fi or try again at a quieter time of day.
Your name, photo or category is wrong
The e-license copies the DLIMS record, so you cannot edit it online. Instead, the correction happens at a license centre with your CNIC and existing card. Find your nearest one in our list of driving license centres.
Still stuck
Contact DLIMS Punjab on 042-99202892 or at info@dlims.punjab.gov.pk. You can also call the Dastak support line on 1202. Keep your CNIC number and a screenshot of the error ready.
e-License for other provinces
Each province runs its own system. As a result, the Punjab portal will not find a license from another province.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: KP handles licenses through its own Transport Department systems and the official KP app and portal. People searching dlims kpk e license should start with our KPK driving license verification guide and the KP verification portal.
- Azad Jammu and Kashmir: The AJK Police DLIMS portal lists an e-license service alongside verification and tracking. Our DLIMS AJK guide covers it.
- Sindh: Searches for dlims sindh e license are common. However, Sindh uses DLS, not DLIMS, so check the current options on our DLS Sindh page.
- Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police run their own licensing portal. See our DLIMS Islamabad guide for what is available online.
- Gilgit-Baltistan: GB offers online verification through its DLMIS portal. Our Gilgit-Baltistan guide explains the process.
Privacy tips for your digital driving license
Your e-license carries your CNIC, photo and date of birth. So treat the file like a copy of your CNIC.
- Generate it only on dlims.punjab.gov.pk, never on a look-alike site
- Never type your CNIC into unofficial "checker" pages or apps
- Store the PDF in a locked folder or password-protected app
- Avoid posting it in WhatsApp groups or on social media
- Delete old copies from shared or office computers

Frequently Asked Questions About the DLIMS e-License
These are the questions readers ask most about the Punjab e-license.
01How do I download my e license Punjab PDF by CNIC?
Open dlims.punjab.gov.pk/elicense, choose your license type, and enter your CNIC and date of birth. Then solve the sum and press Generate e-License. After that, use your browser's Print or Share option and pick Save as PDF.
02Is there a fee for the DLIMS e-License?
The official e-license page does not ask for any payment. You only pay the regular fees when you apply for or renew the license itself. So be wary of anyone charging to generate it for you.
03Is the e-license valid instead of my plastic card in Punjab?
Treat it as a backup copy, not a replacement. We have not found a Punjab rule that makes a phone copy a full legal substitute for the card. Therefore, carry your card and keep the e-license on your phone as well.
04Can I get an e-license if my card has not arrived yet?
Possibly, once DLIMS has issued your license. While the application is still in process, the portal may find no record. Check the card's stage on the DLIMS track page, then try the e-license again later.
05Why does the portal say no record found?
Usually the tab, CNIC or date of birth does not match your record. Re-check each field, type the CNIC without dashes, and pick the correct license type. If it still fails, contact DLIMS on 042-99202892 or visit a license centre.
06Can I use the e-license to renew my license?
No, the e-license only displays your record. Renewal is a separate application with its own fee, explained in our Punjab renewal guide.
07Does the International License tab give me an IDP?
No, it only generates a digital copy of an IDP you already hold. For that tab, the form also asks for your passport number. You still apply for an International Driving Permit separately.
08Can someone else download my DLIMS e-License?
Anyone with your CNIC number and date of birth could generate it. For that reason, keep those details private and never enter them on unofficial websites.
09What if my photo or name is wrong on the e-license?
You cannot edit the record online. Instead, visit a Punjab license centre with your CNIC and your card to request a correction. Once DLIMS updates the record, generate a fresh e-license.
10Does the DLIMS e-License work for licenses from other provinces?
No, the Punjab portal only holds Punjab DLIMS records. Licenses from KP, Sindh, Islamabad, AJK or Gilgit-Baltistan use their own systems. Check the relevant provincial portal instead.
Final word on the DLIMS e-License
The DLIMS e-License is a quick, free way to keep a copy of your Punjab driving license on your phone. Generate it only on the official portal, save it as a PDF, and check every detail. Meanwhile, keep carrying your card and treat the e-license as a handy backup.
If anything looks wrong, a license centre can correct the record, and a fresh e-license will then show the update.
