What is DLIMS Punjab, DLIMS 2.0 and Dastak?
DLIMS stands for Driving License Information Management System. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) built it for the Punjab Police, and the current version is called DLIMS 2.0. You can read the project background on the PITB DLIMS Phase II page, and our explainer on what DLIMS is covers the history in plain words.
Today the portal describes itself as part of Dastak, the Government of Punjab's one window for public services. In practice, form submission, verification, payment and card tracking all run through one system tied to your CNIC.
How the Dastak app fits in
Punjab linked the Dastak mobile app with DLIMS in June 2026. Since then, you can apply for a learner permit, renewal, duplicate licence or International Driving Permit from your phone. The web version lives on the Dastak citizen services page, and its support line is 1202.
That said, the dlims.punjab.gov.pk website still runs the public tools for verification, tracking and the e-licence. Think of Dastak as the place where you apply and DLIMS as the place where you check.
DLIMS login and your account explained
You need an account only when you apply for something or pay a fee. First, you sign up on the portal's register page or in Dastak with your CNIC and mobile number. After that, you log in to fill forms, generate a PSID (Payment Slip ID) and print or download your learner permit.
You can also link an older DLIMS account to Dastak, so earlier applications carry over. Because codes go to the registered number, use an active SIM in your own name. If you forget the password, use the password recovery option on the official site or call Dastak on 1202.
Verification, tracking and the e-licence are public forms, so they work without a login. Use these three official links directly.
How to verify a licence on DLIMS Punjab
Punjab driving licence check online takes about a minute once you know which tab to use. Many people search for dlims verify by CNIC; the method below is the one the official Verify page uses on 30 September 2026.
A valid result shows the holder's licence status, the categories it covers and the validity dates. If the page says no record exists, check the tab you picked and retype both numbers. For every province's portal, see our online driving licence check by CNIC guide.
Track your DLIMS Punjab licence card
Once you pay and pass your tests, the licence card is printed and sent to you by courier. The Rs480 card and courier charge in your fee covers this delivery. To see where it is, open the DLIMS Punjab tracking page, enter your CNIC or passport number, answer the sum and press Track License.
The status usually moves from processing to printing, then to dispatch and courier delivery. Meanwhile, keep your PSID receipt and your registered phone switched on, because the courier may call before delivery. Our DLIMS tracking guide explains each status and what to do if it stops moving.
Download the DLIMS Punjab e-licence
The e-licence is a digital copy of your licence that you create on the official DLIMS e-licence page. First choose Regular License, International License or Juvenile Permit. Then enter your CNIC or passport number and date of birth, solve the sum and generate the file.
Punjab Police describes the e-licence as a downloadable PDF with a QR code for quick verification. Still, keep your physical card with you or easy to reach when you drive. For screenshots and fixes, read our DLIMS e-licence guide.
From learner permit to regular licence in Punjab
People often search Punjab driving licence banane ka tarika; the route below is the official one. In short, you start online, practise for at least 42 days, and then take your tests at a licence branch.
If the permit expires before you pass, you must renew it through Dastak, so book your test well inside six months. Our DLIMS learner licence guide covers the online form field by field.
DLIMS Punjab fee summary for 2026
Punjab charges the licence fee per year of validity, and you choose between one and five years. The table shows what you actually pay for a new one-year licence, including the test fee and the Rs480 card and courier charge.
| Category | Test fee | Licence fee | Card + courier | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs50 | Rs450 | Rs480 | Rs980 |
| Rickshaw | Rs100 | Rs400 | Rs480 | Rs980 |
| Car/Jeep | Rs150 | Rs1,350 | Rs480 | Rs1,980 |
| Motorcycle + Car | Rs200 | Rs1,350 | Rs480 | Rs2,030 |
| LTV | Rs150 | Rs1,850 | Rs480 | Rs2,480 |
| Motorcycle + LTV | Rs200 | Rs1,850 | Rs480 | Rs2,530 |
| Tractor (agricultural) | Rs50 | Rs950 | Rs480 | Rs1,480 |
| Tractor (commercial) | Rs100 | Rs1,400 | Rs480 | Rs1,980 |
Each extra year adds the yearly licence fee again, for example Rs1,350 per year for a car. However, the portal does not spell out every multi-year total, so confirm the final amount on your PSID before you pay. Renewal costs the same yearly fee plus Rs480, and late renewal adds a penalty of 50% to 250% of the yearly fee.
For renewal, duplicate and IDP fees, see our driving licence fee guide for Punjab or the official DLIMS fee structure. Late renewal is covered step by step in our Punjab licence renewal guide.
Documents checklist for a Punjab driving licence
Bring originals and copies, because the branch checks both. For online forms, you also need clear scans of your CNIC (front and back) and a recent photo in the size and format the portal asks for.
- Original CNIC plus a photocopy
- Valid learner permit held for at least 42 days
- Medical certificate if you are 50 or older
- Recent photographs
- Completed application form
- PSID payment receipt
Age rules for each licence category
Punjab sets a minimum age for every category. The rules below are the ones reported for 2026, so confirm any edge case at your licence branch.
| Category | Minimum age | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | 18 | Under 18: see juvenile permit |
| Car/Jeep | 18 | Learner permit first |
| LTV | 21 | Commercial light vehicles |
| HTV | 22 | A car or LTV licence held for three years is also reported as a route |
Juvenile driving permit for ages 16 to 18
Punjab now offers a juvenile driving permit for teenagers aged 16 to 18. It covers motorcycles up to 125cc only, and the rider must wear a helmet. In addition, a parent must attend, and the applicant needs a B-Form or juvenile CNIC and must pass the sign and road tests. Fee reports differ, so check the current amount on Dastak or DLIMS before you apply.
Overseas Pakistanis and the International Driving Permit
If you plan to drive abroad, apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) through Dastak or the DLIMS portal. You need your CNIC, a valid Pakistani licence, a passport with at least six months' validity and a visa, plus photographs.
| Category | 1 year | 3 years |
|---|---|---|
| Motorcycle | Rs930 | Rs1,830 |
| Car/Jeep | Rs1,830 | Rs4,530 |
| LTV/HTV/PSV | Rs2,330 | Rs6,030 |
Anyone abroad can check a Punjab IDP on the Verify page under the International License tab.
DLIMS Punjab licence centres: Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan
There is no separate DLIMS Lahore, DLIMS Rawalpindi, DLIMS Faisalabad or DLIMS Multan website. Instead, every district of Punjab has a traffic police licence branch, and many services also run through Khidmat Markaz counters. Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Sialkot and Sargodha all use the same DLIMS Punjab database.
You visit a branch mainly for the eye check, sign test and road test. Branch addresses and timings change, so use our driving licence centres directory and confirm by phone before you travel.
E-challan and penalty points in Punjab
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) issues camera-based e-challans, and it reports coverage of 41 cities. To check a ticket, enter your vehicle details on the PSCA e-challan portal. Then pay by generating a PSID through e-Pay Punjab and using a bank app, ATM or mobile wallet.
Fines changed twice recently. Punjab raised them in November 2025; then the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2026, gazetted on 7 May 2026, cut many fines and removed jail terms. Reported figures include Rs2,000 for no helmet, Rs10,000 for underage driving, and Rs2,000 (motorcycle) to Rs5,000 (car) for driving without a licence.
The same reforms introduced penalty points on driving licences. Under the November 2025 ordinance, suspension reportedly came at 20 points in a year, and the May 2026 amendment kept a points system.

Common DLIMS Punjab problems and fixes
Most issues come from a wrong tab, a typo or a payment that has not synced yet.
"No record found" on Verify
First, confirm you chose the right tab, because an IDP will not show under Regular License. Next, type the CNIC without dashes and copy the licence number exactly. If the licence came from another province, use that province's portal instead.
Tracking status is not moving
A status can stay the same for several days while the card prints or waits for dispatch. If nothing changes for a long time, call 042-99202892 with your PSID ready.
The e-licence will not generate
Check that the date of birth matches your CNIC exactly. Also, pick Juvenile Permit or International License if that is what you hold. A licence that is still in process may not produce an e-licence yet.
PSID paid but the application shows unpaid
Payments can take a little while to reflect, so keep the receipt showing the PSID number. If the status still shows unpaid, contact Dastak support on 1202.
Lost card or wrong details
A lost or damaged card needs a duplicate licence, from Rs100 plus Rs480 courier depending on category; apply through Dastak. For a spelling mistake, ask your licence branch about correction before you pay anything.

04Can I apply for a driving licence through the Dastak app?
Yes, since June 2026 the Dastak app handles learner permits, renewals, duplicates and International Driving Permits. You still visit a licence branch for the tests before a regular licence. The app shows a PSID for payment through e-Pay Punjab.

07Is the DLIMS e-licence enough, or do I need the card?

A penalty is added to the renewal fee. It is 50% of the yearly fee for one to three months late, 100% for three to twelve months, and 250% after a year. For a car, that means Rs675, Rs1,350 or Rs3,375 on top.
10Can dlims.com.pk check my licence for me?
No, dlims.com.pk is an independent guide and cannot access any licence record. We explain the steps and link to the official portal, where you do the check yourself. Never share your CNIC or password with a private website.
